Chief Executive of BCGA (British Compressed Gas Association) since early 2006. Doug was recruited on a remit to ‘transform’ BCGA from the somewhat quiet trade association it had been, into one which would be far better connected and much more influential – to make a real difference on the many challenges which face or industry sector.
Originally a research chemist with Courtaulds, Doug progressed to Business Director levels and to represent the European Flame Retardant Chemicals industry as President of the Brussels-based EFRA (European Flame Retardants Association) within CEFIC.
Doug also headed the UK glass industry’s trade federation before working for four years as a business consultant.
Elected a Fellow of the RSA in 2000, Doug is 61, has two mature ‘’children’’, and two grandchildren. Doug also serves as a Magistrate in Derby.
